CSIET Announces New Board of Directors Appointments

July 30th, 2012

Dear CSIET Members,

As many of you already know, CSIET Board Chair John Doty resigned from the Board of Directors last week.  Certainly we are sad to see John depart and we sincerely thank him for his numerous years of service and guidance.  John has been a valued contributor to the exchange community over the years and he has indicated that he will continue to support CSIET's goals and strategic direction and will carry on with his commitment to promote the value of youth exchange as a means to global understanding and international diplomacy.  Please join me in wishing John the best as he moves forward.

Relative to John's departure, the CSIET Board of Directors has worked diligently over the last week to appoint a new Chairman of the Board and a new Vice Chair.  I am proud to announce that after much deliberation, Board members have selected Mr. David Vodila to be the next Chairman of the CSIET Board of Directors.  The Board agreed that Mr. Vodila is in the best position to provide continuity and direction for CSIET going forward; he is a consummate professional and a proven leader.  He is a "school" person, representing the NASSP (National Association of Secondary School Principals), and the Board agreed that his qualifications exceeded all the criteria for selection. Further, Dave's appointment fits CSIET's strategic plan and direction and will help strengthen CSIET's reputation as an organization dedicated to the educational value of youth exchange.

The Board also agreed to appoint Mr. Marty Milne to occupy the Vice Chair seat on the CSIET Board of Directors.  Marty has demonstrated leadership not only in the exchange program community but also as a valued Chair of CSIET's F-1 Audit Committee. His calm manner and efficient facilitation of meetings has been critical to CSIET's progress with the NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations) F-1 schools and F-1 programming.

The Board agrees that these appointments will position CSIET to aggressively pursue strong relationships with schools, the F-1 community, J-1 programs and the State Department, and will help to preserve and strengthen CSIET's strategic direction.

Please join me in congratulating our new Board Chair, Mr. David Vodila, and our new Vice Chair, Mr. Marty Milne. Welcome to your new posts!

Sincerely,

Chris Page

Executive Director
