Forte International Exchange Association (FIEA)’s ultimate goal is to promote cultural exchange and foster mutual understanding and friendship between the United States and other nations of the world. FIEA and its representatives are dedicated to student exchange as a means to build a peaceful worldwide community, global idea exchange, and a greater understanding and tolerance of other cultures.
Forte International Exchange Association provides distinctive, high quality, and personalized semester and ten-month cultural exchange opportunities for international students ages 15 to 18. Partnered with different agencies worldwide, FIEA selects students who possess above-average grades, English proficiency, emotional maturity, and a desire to share their culture while learning about the culture of America.
During the student’s stay with a host family and attendance at a local high school, students will learn about various aspects of American culture, society, and customs. To prepare for the cultural difference and challenges of participating in an exchange program, students will undergo two separate orientations, one in their home country and another ‘post arrival’ orientation in the United States. Through the students’ daily activities and interactions, they not only learn about the United States, but also have a chance to share the ideas, customs and culture from their home countries with their American host families, classmates, teachers, and communities.
FIEA has a network of local representatives throughout the United States who provide support on a local level. They carefully screen and interview volunteer host families in their homes, prior to students’ arrivals, to ensure that each student and host family will have a pleasant and memorable experience. Host families, students, and the students’ schools receive support, supervision, and counseling from the FIEA national office and, on a local level, from their local representative throughout the duration of the program. Local representatives submit monthly progress reports to the FIEA national office to help keep track of the student’s progress during their exchange program.
Academic Year/Semester Program in the United States: Foreign students ages 15 to 18 live with American host families while attending a local high school for one semester or academic year (ten months). Above-average grades, English proficiency, emotional maturity, teacher/school official recommendation, and a desire to share their culture while learning about another culture are required. Orientation and counseling are provided to each student before leaving his or her home country and upon arrival in the United States. Cost to participants for an academic year is approximately $4,500 to $6,500. Supervision, counseling, insurance, and enrichment activities are included. Transportation and personal expense are not included.
*FIEA welcomes the opportunity to work with agents from all over the world to promote cultural exchange.
