Join representatives from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), including SEVP Director Lou Farrell, to learn about the F visa program and best practices for F students studying at the K-12 level. Following the presentation, SEVP representatives will take questions from the audience.
Panelist: Lou Farrell, SEVP Director
Louis M. Farrell is the Deputy Assistant Director of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He has served in this position since July 2006. As the SEVP Deputy Assistant Director, Mr. Farrell expanded the program’s mission and staff to better serve students, schools and other stakeholders. These expansions include increasing the number of ICE field agents who enforce regulations and statutes, creating the SEVP Analysis and Operations Center, launching the SEVP Response Center and improving SEVIS, which is used by nearly 50,000 members of the law enforcement, national security and academic communities. Previously, Mr. Farrell spent 35 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, retiring as a Captain. His Coast Guard experience included the training and management of personnel, finance and operational programs. He is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
Panelist: Francine Hunter, Adjudicator, SEVP Analysis and Operations Center
Francine Hunter serves as an adjudicator and School Compliance team lead in the SEVP Analysis and Operations Center. Ms. Hunter has worked with SEVP since 2007, serving as the liaison between SEVP and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Counterterrorism and Criminal Exploitation Unit. She received her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Panelist: Sanna Serspinski, SEVP Field Representative
Sanna Serspinski joined SEVP as a member of the second class of field representatives and currently serves a territory that includes West Virginia and parts of Virginia. She joined SEVP in February 2014 as the field representative for Territory 35 in Tennessee. Prior to joining SEVP, Sanna served as a DSO at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Maryville College. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of London in the United Kingdom.
