36th Annual Conference Postponement Notice from Executive Director Chris Page

Dear CSIET Members,

After much deliberation and consideration, and out of an abundance of caution, the CSIET Board of Directors has agreed to postpone the 2020 CSIET Annual Conference, which was originally scheduled for October 14-16 in Cleveland, Ohio.  Instead, CSIET’s 36th Annual Conference will take place April 7-9, 2021 at the same location.  As you know, the conference has always been a place for CSIET Staff, along with our members and exhibitors, to interact with each other and with representatives from the Departments of State and Homeland Security, at the end of the annual recruitment and placement cycle.  We share in the successes and challenges of the previous year, and collaborate on preferred practices in the interest of safe and valuable experiences for all of our international student exchange visitors.  The conference is an important way for the community to connect, engage and develop partnerships.  That tradition will continue! However, with the potential for a 2nd wave of COVID-19, possible delays in school start dates, and a general lack of clarity with regard to future travel/stay at home restrictions, the CSIET Board agreed on April 22, 2020 that CSIET will best execute its purpose by responding to the exigent needs, circumstances and challenges posed to the high school exchange community at this difficult time.

Our conference theme, will remain the same as will the conference location, The Westin Cleveland Downtown. The registration timeline will change, so please look for additional CSIET communications regarding registration dates, which will be posted on the 36th Annual CSIET Conference website

CSIET will continue to communicate updates as we progress through the remainder of 2020.  Should you have any questions regarding our decision to move our conference to April 7-9 of 2021, please contact me directly at cpage@csiet.org.  Should you have any questions regarding conference programming, please contact Anna Damewood at anna@csiet.org.

CSIET continues to work hard on your behalf. Whether it be advocacy, compliance, promotion of the value and benefits of international student exchange, we are here and working for you. Thank you for all you do in support of safe and valuable international student exchange!

Sincerely,

Chris Page
