Ignite Your International Student Program

CSIET is working hard to create a successful networking event called Ignite Your International Student Program. We are contacting school administrators from the DC, Maryland and Virginia area to come and attend a workshop and share their perspective on issues concerning the potential impact that international student programs can have on their school campus’ and local communities.

This is an opportunity for your program to take advantage and share your success stories with interested schools.

The workshop will be held at The Westin Alexandria, VA on Saturday, October 24th and will run from 9:00am – 1:00pm with a continental breakfast and lunch included. School attendees may include principals or headmasters, college counselors, international student directors, and admissions directors.

A list of attending schools will be published by October 1, 2015.

Ignite Your International Student Program Workshop

We all know that the international student population has grown exponentially over the last few years, and we know there is a need for a workshop like this. We want to help you be on the forefront of navigating best practices, using powerful resources to help develop innovative programs, and most importantly, we want to give you the opportunity to network with one another, uncover common challenges, and work toward practical solutions for your international program success.

CSIET invites you to attend our workshop titled Ignite your International Student Program, which covers traits that make a successful international student program including international student admissions, creating a supportive environment for your program, and engaging your international student body.

The Agenda is broken up into three main topics:

1. EMPOWER – Building Your Toolkit: CSIET listed Programs, ELTiS Testing and SEVIS Support (CSIET – Chris Page, ELTiS – Sari Luoma, SEVP – Sanna Serspinski)

2. ENGAGE – Simple Practice, Big Impact: What you wish you had known: learning from experience and revolutionizing your program (School’s Perspective – Robert Kodama)

3. ENRICH – Blending Foundation, Inspiration and Experience: Cultivating a mindful and supportive campus for your international student life experience (ASSIST – Kate Meenan-Waugh, Cultural Crossways – Barbara Rhymaun)

Within each of these topics, there will be experienced speakers followed by round-table discussions in which International Admission officials/coordinators and heads of international student programs can discuss the subjects most important to them. Our hope is to create an interactive environment and give schools & programs the opportunity to talk with one another to discuss common challenges and uncover solutions. We would love you to contribute your experience and expertise in this subject with other schools as well.
