The U.S. Department of State has asked CSIET to spread the word that it is engaged in “an effort to evaluate the Exchange Visitor Program’s (EVP) name, messaging, and visual systems (imagery and colors used in print and online communications). This exercise will allow us to assess current internal perceptions of the EVP and gauge the American public’s understanding and awareness level of the program.”

As part of this project, the Department “will be sending out a short survey to understand your views, and to gather ideas for the future of the Exchange Visitor Program. Your input will help us choose an identity that helps the program continue to thrive and fulfill its mission: To build mutual understanding, and help create a foundation of trust between Americans and the rest of the world. The survey will be open from Wednesday, January 2 – Friday, January 18, 2019.”

The Department of State is also asking exchange visitor program sponsor to widely distribute the survey. Below is the text of the email that was sent out to exchange visitor program Responsible Officers and Alternate Responsible Officers on December 6, 2018.

The Office of Private Sector Exchange is working with CHIEF, a marketing firm, to conduct a brand review of the Exchange Visitor Program’s (EVP) name, messaging, and visual systems (imagery and colors used in print and online communications). This exercise will allow us to (1) assess current internal perceptions of the EVP and (2) gauge the American public’s understanding and awareness level of the program.
