On July 26, the U.S. Departments of State and Education released a joint statement of principles in support of international education. This poses great news for our community as this is the first statement of its kind on over two decades. The statement details intended actions of “Incorporat[ing] a strong focus on international education as part of the nation’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic” and to “implement policies, procedures, and protocols so as to facilitate international education and authorized practical experiences while promoting program integrity and protecting national security.” We applaud this shared intention and renewed commitment as it brings us all hope for a bright future for our young ambassadors and the greater international student exchange community.
