With “opening the world through youth exchange” as its motto, Global Insights, a nonprofit educational organization, strives to increase international understanding and prepare young people to live in a globally interdependent world by providing enriching cross-cultural learning opportunities through student exchange programs. It is Global Insights’ philosophy that the daily interaction achieved through homestay experiences allows students and host families alike to gain an appreciation of cultural differences and similarities, thus developing a global perspective and leading to a greater understanding of the diverse world in which we live.
Global Insights offers an inbound academic year/semester program for high school students from Europe, South America, Asia, and the former Soviet Union. Students are screened and selected based on character, maturity, adaptability, language skills, and academic motivation.
Global Insights Area Representatives serve as liaisons for students, schools, and host families throughout the exchange experience. Responsibilities include interviewing and screening host families, coordinating school acceptance, conducting orientation meetings, arranging special activities for program participants, and monitoring the program at the local level. Area Representatives also assist qualified host families in choosing a student that best matches their personalities and interests.
Academic Semester/Year Program in the United States— Foreign students ages 15 to 18 live with U.S. host families and attend the local high school for five to ten months. Area Representatives provide supervision and counseling at the local level. Orientation is provided prior to departure and upon arrival. Cost to participants is $5,200 to $6,200, excluding transportation and personal expenses.
