The U.S. Department of State recognizes that ensuring the health, safety and welfare of exchange students is of paramount importance. That is why the OPA was created in 2013. The OPA works with Exchange Visitor Program sponsors to respond to incidents that may adversely affect the exchange. Joining the symposium is Mark Howard, Director for the Office of Private Sector Exchange Program Administration (OPA) from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and Program Analyst, Kyle Harrigan who will share mental health data trends and model practices.
