Information Planet is dedicated to promoting cultural understanding between people from around the world. It is the philosophy of Information Planet that greater understanding and tolerance of others develop through personal interaction. Information Planet offers Belgian and French teenagers high school academic programs abroad.

Information Planet operates through a network of sponsors throughout the United States who provide support at the local level. Sponsors, through their coordinators, interview and screen host families and supervise the program during the students’ stay.

Academic Program – United States — International students aged 15 to 18 travel to the United States, attend school for five or ten months, and live with a U.S. host family. Students must complete an application in English, pass a language proficiency test, submit transcripts indicating above-average grades, and send a presentation video. Students are also interviewed by our psychologist prior to acceptance. Upon acceptance, students are required to attend several orientations (online, a full day in Belgium, and an orientation organized by the sponsors while in the USA). The full-day orientation, which is conducted in May, addresses issues such as culture shock, program rules, and how to make the most of the high school experience.

In addition, Information Planet students are offered the opportunity to attend an intensive U.S. orientation course in the United States prior to their arrival in the host community. The primary focus of the course is to help students acclimate to U.S. culture, review program policies, procedures, and safety, and prepare them for their academic year stay.

The cost to participants includes sponsor services, Information Planet services, orientations, transportation, and medical insurance. Personal expenses are excluded.
