CIEE is the country’s oldest and largest nonprofit study abroad and intercultural exchange organization. Since 1947, CIEE has helped thousands of people gain the knowledge and skills necessary to live and work in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world by offering the most comprehensive, relevant, and valuable exchange programs available. As the largest sponsor for U.S. Department of State J-1 Visa programs, CIEE also helps nearly 35,000 international students participate in U.S.-based exchange programs each year. CIEE programs and services span study abroad, teach abroad, international faculty training, and various specialty and custom programs for secondary, post-secondary, and international students.
High School USA Program – CIEE High School USA is more than just an educational opportunity; it is also a chance for international high school students to experience life as an American teen. CIEE, along with our nationwide network of welcoming host families, high-quality schools, and experienced Local Coordinators (LCs), come together to ensure this experience is both safe and immersive. International high school students ages 15-18 participate in a semester or full-year academic program, living with a host family and attending high school. During the school year, students participate in a community project, learning the importance of giving back to one’s community through volunteerism, political activism, or conservation efforts. In addition to the support students receive from their host families and CIEE Local Coordinators, CIEE also offers support services 24 hours per day for students, host families and schools. Students can play a sport, practice English, and explore their community with their host family and friends made at school, all while gaining skills that will last a lifetime!
