Foreign Links Around the Globe (FLAG, Inc.) promotes global understanding through exchanges, homestays, and travel. Programs facilitate self-development, for both exchange students and Americans, in the areas of problem solving, diplomacy, conflict resolution, cultural awareness, trust of self and others, respect for different views, and academics.

FLAG recognizes international exchange as one of the most important and impactful diplomatic initiatives for the U.S. and other nations around the world. FLAG is committed to excellence in support throughout the entire exchange experience to ensure all partners, students, host families, schools, and communities achieve goals and objectives established for each program.

Participant selection for the Academic Year Program includes personal interviews and evaluation of English language proficiency, academic standing, and maturity.  Orientation includes an average of four sessions in the home country prior to departure, plus a comprehensive orientation shortly after arrival in their hosting community. An optional Student Arrival Summit (held in Washington, D.C.) is also available to all students after they have already spent some time in their host family/community. The Central Office, Chapter Leaders, and Local Coordinators maintain contact with students, host families, and schools throughout the program.

FLAGship (J1 visa)—Foreign students ages 15 to 18 live with a U.S. host family and attend school for one academic semester or year. The program includes pre-departure orientation meetings and personal assistance throughout the participant’s stay. Cost to participants is $6,400 to $10,700, including insurance, but excluding transportation and personal expenses. Additional administrative fees may be charged by overseas agents.
