About Global Horizons USA

Global Horizons USA (GH USA) is dedicated to fostering meaningful educational and cultural exchange experiences for international students, host families, and partner schools.

With a strong commitment to student success, we provide a supportive and enriching environment that nurtures academic, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. We specialize in placing F-1 students in carefully selected private day and boarding schools, ensuring the best possible match for their educational journey.

Our approach is highly personalized. Through in-depth consultations with natural parents, we carefully assess each student’s needs and aspirations to recommend the most suitable program. To further ensure a secure and supportive experience, we conduct in-home interviews with prospective students, their families, and host families, fostering strong connections before the program begins.

Academic Year Program – United States

Our Academic Year Program offers international students aged 14 to 19 the opportunity to study in the United States while living with a carefully selected American host family for a semester or full academic year.

Students applying to boarding schools complete a comprehensive admissions process, including teacher recommendations, English proficiency testing, transcript evaluations, and personal essays.

Before departure, students and parents participate in a detailed GH USA orientation in their home country, typically held in late spring or early summer. This preparation covers:

  • American culture and expectations
  • Academic readiness and English development
  • Culture shock and adaptation strategies
  • Social media awareness and student responsibility
  • Mental health, wellness, and safety

Upon arrival in the U.S., students attend a post-arrival orientation within the first two weeks to reinforce expectations and support a smooth cultural transition.

Host Family Support and Program Structure

Our host family program is led by a National Director and supported by a nationwide network of Local Coordinators (LCs). These coordinators play a key role in ensuring a successful experience by:

  • Conducting host family interviews and pre-arrival training
  • Providing ongoing support through regular check-ins and in-person meetings
  • Facilitating communication between students, host families, and schools

All host families go through a thorough vetting process, including applications, background checks, personal references, and in-home interviews. Families are continuously supported through Local Coordinators and the GH USA Host Family Handbook.

Should any challenges arise, our team is committed to resolving them promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive experience for all involved.

Our Commitment

At Global Horizons USA, we take pride in our individualized approach and our unwavering support for students, families, and school partners.

Program costs range from $12,500 to $50,000 (excluding transportation, insurance, and personal expenses).

Our dedication to personalized care, strong communication, and a trusted support network sets us apart—creating a truly enriching and transformative international exchange experience.
