About Global Horizons USA

Global Horizons USA (GH USA) is dedicated to fostering meaningful educational and cultural exchange experiences for international students, host families, and partner schools. With a strong commitment to student success, we provide a supportive and enriching environment that nurtures academic, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. We specialize in placing F-1 students in carefully selected private day and boarding schools, ensuring the best possible match for their educational journey.

Our approach is highly personalized. Through in-depth consultations with natural parents, we carefully assess each student’s needs and aspirations to recommend the most suitable program. To further ensure a secure and supportive experience, we conduct in-home interviews with prospective students, their families, and host families, fostering strong connections before the program begins.

Academic Year Program – United States

This program offers international students aged 14 to 19 the opportunity to study in the U.S. while living with an American host family for a semester or full academic year. Students applying to boarding schools follow a thorough admissions process that includes teacher recommendations, proficiency tests, transcript evaluations, and autobiographical essays. Before departure, students and parents participate in interviews and attend a comprehensive GH USA pre-departure orientation in their home country.

The orientation, held in late spring or early summer, covers essential topics such as American culture, English language proficiency, program expectations, culture shock, social media etiquette, mental health and wellness, safety considerations, and strategies for making the most of their experience. Upon arrival in the U.S., students take part in a post-arrival orientation within two weeks to reinforce program policies and ease their cultural transition.

Host Family Support and Program Structure

Our host family program is guided by a National Director and supported by a dedicated network of Local Coordinators (LCs) across the United States. These LCs play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and fulfilling experience for students and host families by:

  • Conducting interviews and pre-arrival training for host families.
  • Providing ongoing support through regular check-ins and in-person meetings.
  • Facilitating communication between students, host families, and schools.

The selection process for host families is thorough, including an application, background checks, personal references, and an in-home interview. Families receive guidance from Local Coordinators and can consult the GH USA Host Family Handbook for ongoing support. Should any challenges arise, our team is committed to resolving them promptly, ensuring a positive experience for all involved.

At GH USA, we take great pride in our individualized approach and unwavering support for students, natural parents, host families, and schools. Program costs range from $12,500 to $40,000, excluding transportation, insurance, and personal expenses. Our commitment to personalized care and a strong support network sets us apart, creating a truly enriching and transformative international exchange experience.
