IHEEC is dedicated to promote international education and foster cultural exchange between the United States and China. Over the years, the organization has built strong partnerships with high schools, educational agencies, and institutions both locally and internationally.

IHEEC recruits qualified high school exchange students who wish to study abroad and places them with caring American host families. These placements offer students a supportive environment and a meaningful cultural immersion experience. The organization regularly monitors students’ academic progress, provides assistance when challenges arise, and ensures consistent communication between students’ parents and host families.

Guided by its mission to bridge educational and cultural divides, IHEEC plays an active role in advancing international education programs in Michigan. It is also recognized as a strategic partner by public schools in Michigan, highlighting its trusted and ongoing collaboration within the state’s educational community.

IHEEC Student Enrollment Program

The IHEEC Student Enrollment Program offers international students the opportunity to study at a U.S. high school while experiencing American culture firsthand. The program is open to students who meet the eligibility requirements and are eager to engage in academic and cultural exchange in the United States.

  1. Academic Component

Students in grades equivalent to U.S. grades 9–12 are eligible to apply for the program, which allows them to study at a U.S. public high school for one academic year. Depending on their visa status and academic standing, students may have the various options to extend their period of study.

The enrollment process includes:

  • Completing a detailed application form
  • Submitting academic transcripts
  • Demonstrating English proficiency through an approved language test
  • Participating in a video interview conducted by a U.S.- based institution

Once enrolled, IHEEC monitors each student’s academic performance and coordinates for a tutoring service when needed to ensure a successful learning experience.

  1. Living Component

IHEEC carefully pre-screens and selects host families, matching them with students based on shared interests and overall compatibility. The program encourages exchange students to fully immerse themselves in the host family experience by engaging in open communication and actively participating in daily family life.

To ensure a positive and enriching stay, IHEEC provides continuous support and guidance, helping students and host families navigate cultural differences and address any challenges that may arise. This holistic approach promotes a smooth, rewarding living experience for everyone involved.
