Study World Corporation, commonly referred to as MLA Move Language Ahead, is dedicated to the promotion of safe, educational, and cultural programs to students from Italy. Our High School team has more than 50 years of combined experience working with young learners and placing international students with the F-1 visa in Public, Charter, and Private Day High Schools; Boarding Schools; Short-term Programs; and Homestays in the United States.

Our head offices are in the center of Milan and Naples, Italy. Our US headquarters in Illinois has formed partnerships with some of the highest regarded schools in the United States to offer our students a wide range of program options to suit every student.

Locally, you will find our dedicated team of regional managers and local coordinators who provide the highest levels of care and welfare to our students throughout their programs. Our 24/7/365 support line is available to students and host families for emergencies. At MLA we believe that if you take care of your employees, they will take care of your customers (Students); we offer competitive pay, paid professional development, bonus incentives, and employee appreciation days to say “Thank you” for all they do to serve our students.

MLA host families are the key to a successful program. Our application process, interview, home inspection, and orientation are designed to prepare them to host MLA students with clear expectations. Our placements are made with care and attention to detail knowing that each student and family is unique and making the correct placement upfront will avoid conflicts in the end. Our students are required to act as a member of the family, including following house rules, participating in chores, and spending time getting to know the members of the household. Students are encouraged to live a full American experience including participation in afterschool clubs, sports, and community events.

Our students go through a rigorous screening process prior to arrival. Our comprehensive application aims to identify the whole student and sets out clear expectations for participation in our program. MLA employs an Italian psychologist to work with and evaluate students prior to their departure to ensure their mental health is correct for involvement. MLA’s pre-departure program provides tips and tricks on life in the United States, culture shock, homesickness, and how to make the most from their time abroad.

Ultimately, the goal is to be safe, study hard, meet people, learn things, and have fun!

Academic Year Program with F-1 visa – United States—International students ages 15 to 18 travel to the United States, attend school for one semester or ten months, and live with a U.S. host family.  Students must complete an application in English, pass a language proficiency test, submit transcripts indicating above-average grades, and write an autobiographical essay.  Students are interviewed prior to acceptance.  Students are encouraged to take English, U.S. history, and geography classes at their high school prior to departure.  Upon acceptance, students are required to attend several orientations. The orientations, which are conducted in December and July, address issues such as American culture, English language, program rules, and how to make the most of the U.S. high school experience.
