OCEAN, (Organization for Cultural Exchange Among Nations) is a nonprofit organization which sponsors international exchange students. The purpose of the program is to promote international understanding, cultural awareness, and academic excellence.

Making friends in new places is one among many significant experiences that student participants are exposed to during their sojourn. They experience political influences and cultural diversities within the host community, and as a result of specific studies such as U.S. Government and U.S. History, they become acquainted with a political system that, for the most part, is different from their own. In return, the host family and community learn about the participant’s home country political structure, history, and traditions, invariably promoting international understanding. Through their unselfish and caring commitment, the host family and their community are rewarded with the knowledge that they are helping to educate future world leaders.

OCEAN, (Organization for Cultural Exchange Among Nations) constantly promotes the seriousness of this cultural exchange and academic endeavor by requiring that all participants take on a full course of study, attend all scheduled classes, and maintain an average grade of “C” or above. The student participants are exposed to different teaching methods and classroom procedures, predictably broadening their study skills.

Academic Semester/Year Program in the United States—Through our international representatives, we recruit and screen high school pupils ages 15 to 18 for our homestay program. The selection process includes English proficiency testing, maturity evaluation, examination of academic achievements, and overall health evaluation. The selected candidates and their respective natural parents participate in orientations designed to inform and expose them to ideas conducive to a perfect sojourn. The participants are placed with families that have made the commitment to host an international student. These pre-selected families have met very stringent criteria and participate in a comprehensive orientations prior to the new family member’s arrival. Cost for inbound students is from $6,000 to $9,200, not including airfare or personal expenses. Additional fees may be charged by the home country representative.
